We had a 65% drop in our grape production in 2023 as temperatures in late December 2022 dipped below -20°C. At Red Brick vineyard across Osoyoos lake where we source the rest of the grapes there was a further crop drop of 85% in the Viognier. Thankfully, although the percentage of non-fruitful buds was high, our vines survived well.

On the nose stewed spicy pear, grilled pineapple, with a splash of peach cobbler seconds earlier taken out of the oven.

On the palate a rich coating of apricot skin, yellow apple and more this time stem ginger with hints of tangerine. The finish is ever so lightly tinged with the slightest hints of marmalade oranges.

We paired it with chicken pies from Twin Lakes Market on Hwy 3a. Delicious!
