58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Syrah, 17% Carmenere
Apart from the first three vintages, our proprietary blend named by its vintage year continues to be comprised of a blend of three grapes. Always dominated by our estate-grown Cabernet with varying percentages of our Carmenere and Syrah sourced from Red Brick vineyard on the east side of Osoyoos Lake. The Syrah portion of 2019 harvested mid October (a couple of weeks before our estate fruit) achieved phenolic ripeness without excessive accumulation of sugar. We appreciate its black pepper flavours, brisk acidity, and ripe tannin contribution to our 2019.
On the nose densely perched aromas of crushed plums, ripe dark currant with echoes of black peppercorn and melted dark licorice. Distinctly and richly structured along a framework of lively acidity, with sleek well-integrated tannins carrying through to the rounded finish. Enjoyed it with bison/lamb burgers topped with cheddar and grilled mushrooms.
