54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Syrah, and 20% Carmenere
As this year, August 2018 was shrouded by smoky skies. September rains cleared the skies and October was generously warm and sunny, further ensuring phenolic ripeness while conserving aromatic profiles of our grapes.
As in our previous vintages our 7th vintage of our proprietary blend is anchored by our Cabernet Sauvignon (54%), followed by Syrah (26%) and Carmenere (20%). The blend was assembled end of June 2019 for another year of elevage and bottled June 2020 for additional 14 months of bottle aging. So approachable now but no rush this will age well for another decade and more.
2018 entices with alluring aromas of fresh cassis, plums laced with cinnamon and dark cherry puree. Carrying through on the palate, lavish flavours of blackberry compote are supported by a core of lively acidity and enveloped by fine grained tannins. Some hints of violets and licorice are poking through on the lengthy stream-lined finish.
So delicious paired with medley of grilled vegetables topped with crumbles of old cheddar.
