Carménère

estate grown

100% Carménère

2018 growing year is considered a cooler vintage of this last decade. Ideal flowering conditions brought on our largest crop of Carmenere to date and a coolest September on record brought on additional flavour development without the added pressure of further sugar accumulation.

We are one of the handful of growers of this variety in the Okanagan that was the casualty of phylloxera in France late 18th century. Our sandy-loam south-eastern facing vineyard has proven in providing ideal conditions for our estate-grown Carmenere, consequently we are very excited that will be planting an additional ½ acre this year.

In the glass, deep ruby almost purple with wafts of concentrated warm sweet red plums notes of anise mixed with some cedar. Contoured, medium to full bodied with flecks of dried herbal accents, white pepper and sweet piquillo grilled pepper lurking on the sidelines of the palate. Long finish supported by vibrant acidity and complimented by fine tannins filled with more wild spice.

Smoked tapenade is a fine accompaniment.
